Missions

Active Faith ~ Contact: Diane Curley, # (248) 486-4590

Crossroads partners with other local churches in support of this community service provider.  Active Faith provides food and clothing distribution, tutoring for grades K-5 with volunteers, utility/energy assistance and case management for each client by planning, seeking and monitoring services from different social agencies.  Feel free to contact them directly to discuss their services #(248) 437-9790, www,activefaithcs.org   On Facebook, visit "Active Faith South Lyon".

The church is assigned a monthly requested grocery/food donation, which is listed in the Sunday bulletin.  We ask that you put these items in the hallway basket, which are then delivered to Active Faith bi-weekly.  There is a sign-up sheet on the hallway table to help with these deliveries.

Downtown Outreach

Contact: Sue Rankin,  DowntownOutreach@ecrossroads.net

Downtown Outreach is a ministry fueled by volunteers from several churches whose hearts are hopeful for the hopeless.  Our main goal is to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ along with a bagged lunch, drink and clothing (and sometimes hygiene kits or school supplies) for men, women and children that live on the streets or in low income housing near Cass Corridor.
We meet every 3rd Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads and then make our way towards downtown for the day, usually returning to South Lyon by 4:00 p.m.

Giving 360 ~ Contact: Dan & Brenda Weiand, Giving360@ecrossroads.net

If you know of someone in need of any household items, this ministry can help!  FREE merchandise is donated by retail stores and available; items ranging from linens to small appliances to towels to toys!  Help is appreciated to sort items at their New Hudson facility, if you have some spare time.  Please let Dan and Brenda know of your free time availability or household need by e-mail: Giving360@ecrossroads.net.  They keep a "wish list" so, as different items are received from area merchants throughout the week, they'll keep an eye out for what you need and let you know when it's arrived.

Haiti Support ~ Contacts: Bill & Char Baker, Haiti@ecrossroads.net

15 years ago Tom Braak heard God's call. He sold all his possessions and moved to Haiti with nothing but a backpack. He is the founder and executive director of Faith in Action International (FIAI) through which his projects provide both physical and spiritual development to the poorest of the poor in Haiti.

Haiti is only 700 miles off the coast of Florida, but in Haiti a child dies every 5 minutes from malnutrition or lack of clean water.  27% of Haitian children never reach the age of 5.    FIAI distributes water filters assuring a safe water source to families.  Before Tom started working with the mountain farmers their normal annual incomes were less the $150. This year their annual incomes should reach $500 to $700.  FIAI also conducts church leadership training conferences, where the attendees are pastors and lay leaders that have never had any sort of theological training.

You bring life to the Haitian people through your prayers and donations. Please consider providing a Creole Bible, a home garden, a water filter for a family or diesel gas to transport these. You might also consider a mission trip to Haiti; seeing firsthand the poverty and the love the Haitians have is a life-changing experience.  FIAI believes that all people deserve a good life and the opportunity to know Jesus Christ.
